Prolotherapy
The Pain Management and Anti-Aging Center
The Pain Management and Anti-Aging Center specializes in Prolotherapy (Reconstructive Injection Therapy), which has been practiced in the U.S. for over sixty years. This procedure was endorsed by former Surgeon General, Dr. C. Everett Koop as a simple, safe, highly cost effective alternative to drug therapy or surgery when surgery has failed to relieve pain, or is impossible due to other health reasons.
What is Prolotherapy?
Prolotherapy causes the proliferation, or growth, of new ligament tissue in areas where it has become stretched, torn, or otherwise weakened.
Ligaments and tendons are structures in the body that hold and support your joints. When the ligaments near a joint have not healed back to their original strength, the joint is not supported properly, and the result is usually chronic pain. Prolotherapy uses a dextrose solution, which is injected into the ligament or tendon. The result is a localized inflammation which then increases the blood supply and stimulates the tissue to repair itself.
What types of problems can Prolotherapy treat?
Prolotherapy has consistently demonstrated its effectiveness in the treatment and cure of pain associated with:
- Neck and back pain
- Arthritis
- Migraine and chronic headache
- TMJ, neck pain, and whiplash
- Shoulder, arm, and wrist pain
- Carpal Tunnel and tennis elbow
- Back and hip pain
- Knee, ankle, and foot spurs
- Heel spurs, arthritis, joint pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Loose tendons or ligament injury
